Our Motto: The Ethic in Action
The core value of the Foundation stem from the ideal's of the Hacker Ethic and this is reflected in the Foundation's motto. The Hacker Ethic is commonly made up of two parts the belief that information-sharing is a powerful positive good, and that it is an ethical duty of hackers to share their expertise by writing free software and facilitating access to information and computing resources wherever possible; and/or the belief that system cracking for fun and exploration is ethically acceptable as long as the hacker commits no theft, vandalism, or breach of confidentiality.

Our Core Value:
We believe that information-sharing is a powerful positive good, and that it is our ethical duty to share our expertise and facilitate access to information and technological resources wherever possible.
We express our core value through works which are:
•Sustainable
•Equitable
•Collaboratively Developed
•Innovative
•Altruistic
The Foundation adopted the first part of the ethic as it's core value, and rejects second as often used excuse for petty crime. The Foundation is a mechanism to put the first part of the ethic into action. Hence, the Foundation is the Ethic in Action.
